Spring has Sprung!

It's definitely spring up here. The air is warm, bird are singing and flowers are blooming! This is what's happening in my garden at the moment.

These start white, turn purple and have the loveliest scent. They are at the front of the verandah and if you sit looking out onto the street, the smell wafts up to you.

The jasmine is out the back door, near the toilet. Leave the loo window open and you have natures deoderiser!

These next two are actually across the road, but they are absolutely gorgeous.

And look what the curlew nesting on our block hatched! Isn't she clever?

Fresh Air Friday

Today is beautiful here. Sunshine, a light breeze, so this is where I chose to set up my sewing.

When we first moved here, I despaired over the lack of room to sew until I realised it was just as easy to set up outside. My only problem with this solution is the need to set up and pull down every time. I look forward to having a house with room to set up at least semi permanently. Speaking of which, I was very excited yesterday to finally pick up the plans to our house from the draftsman! Hurdle number one over, now for the big one, getting the stuff through council. I plan to have it in before we go away for two weeks on Friday. I may be able to post while away, but I wouldn't count on it! Not to worry, I don't think the handful of people who read this will be too worried.

I did do some sewing today but I can't show you as it's for my doll quilt swap and I don't want to give too much away. Needless to say, I'm pleased with the progress and hope to get more done on Sunday.

Happy Birthday to me!

It was my birthday a week ago. My son celebrated this by announcing to the whole coffee shop we go to every Tuesday morning for a coffee and a milkshake that I was 37! Just what I wanted everyone in there to know. So having taken a week to get over the public humiliation, I decided it wasn't so bad and have now announced it to the WWW!

At the beginning of the year, the girls over at EB started a birthday swap. Basically what happens is that I send everyone on the list a FQ for their birthday and in return, on my birthday I got showered with quilty goodness. When the idea of the swap was first floated, I was in the middle of packing and moving interstate so I decided not to join. Once I moved, I regretted my decision and asked if I could join, promising to send off FQ's to the two members whose birthdays had already happened. Being the special bunch of ladies they are, they said yes so I got to join the fun! You had to nominate the style of fabric you wanted to receive: retro, a colour, prints, whatever took your fancy. I couldn't come up with anything so I asked everyone to send me one of what they had asked for. It has resulted in a lovely mixed bag of fabrics. Due to some technical difficulties (ie, husbands, conferences etc!) I'm still waiting on a few. Not that this worries me, just stretches out my birthday! So here is what I have recieved so far.1. lily, retro, 2. xena, retro, 3. joy, blue/teal, 4. emma3, B&W, 5. emma2 B&W, 6. emma B&W, 7. cylie, retro, 8. helen3, pinks, 9. helen2, pinks, 10. helen, pinks, 11. leah, brights, 12. AJ, bright, yellow and orange, 13. natalie, cute prints, retro, 14. Not available, 15. Not available, 16. cass, retro

The descriptions underneath tell you who sent me what and they style they asked for.

Helen and Emma were very naughty and sent me 3, a couple of others (and I'm sorry I can't remember who becuase I forgot to write it down!) also sent me magazines. All together you made my birthday a lovely occasion. I haven't had that many presents to open in a long time. Thank you!

And my excuse for last Friday...

...my mum was here (still is!), my husband was away and there was shopping to do! Hopefully I'll be back on schedule next week, although I have learnt to promise nothing!

No sewing happened over the weekend, but lots of cutting! I've cut out what I need to make the disappearing 9 patch for the back of Luke's frog quilt and all the cutting for the Dolls Quilt.

Where would we be without snap lock bags!
